Thanksgiving Undergarment Drive

Please contribute to the KMHS PTSA Thanksgiving Undergarment drive.  All items will stay within the KMHS family, distributed to our students and their families.  Our social worker encouraged the PTSA to make this their Thanksgiving project rather than food collection because there is such a pressing and immediate need.  Please drop off NEW UNDERWEAR, SOCKS and BRAS ~  in all sizes 3T through Plus Adults ~ girls, boys, men’s and women’s ~ to the front office.

Collections will be taken until Thanksgiving break.

Georgia Parent Survey

The Georgia Parent Survey queries parents regarding school matters. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone or tablet. All parents should be encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey as the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted below. Please take a moment to complete this survey for Kennesaw Mountain High School. Thank you.

Teacher Grants

Did you know that your PTSA funds teacher grants each and every year?  This allows teachers to apply for and receive funding for enrichment materials in the classroom that the school or county doesn’t have the funds to pay for.  In the past, this has included classroom sets of calculators, equipment for the culinary arts, iPads and other technology and much, much more!   It’s time for teachers to fill out there wish lists once again.  All teachers can apply and any items granted stay with KMHS even if the teacher should change schools.  This is one way that joining and supporting the PTSA directly benefits your student and your student’s teachers.  Teachers, please look for the application forms in your mailboxes on Monday.

Governor’s Honors Program Now Accepting Applications

The nomination process for the Governor’s Honors Program is currently underway. The Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer instructional program designed to provide high-achieving and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities not usually available during the regular school year. Rising juniors and seniors in Georgia’s public and private high schools, as well as students enrolled in home school, may be nominated by their teachers.  This year’s program, located at Berry College, will be in session from June 17 through July 14. If the idea of spending four weeks this summer on a college campus, studying in-depth an academic field of interest with outstanding high school and college instructors appeals to you, speak to one of your academic teachers as soon as possible or swing by Room 327 to see Ms. Dye for more information. Potential fine arts candidates should see Mr. Dunn in the Fine Arts Building. The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement provides additional information at the GHP website:https://gosa.georgia.gov/governors-honors-program

KMHS Clubs – This Year Taking Their Own Yearbook Pictures

In an effort to promote creativity and individuality, KMHS club pictures this year will be taken by the individual clubs. For clubs to be featured, the yearbook staff needs to receive the club photo by October 25th along with the names of those students featured in the club itself. Parents, please make sure your students are attending their upcoming club meetings so they don’t miss out on being included in the picture!

Make-Up Picture Day

School picture make-up day is on Thursday, September 21st in the media center during all lunches. This is for students who missed the picture days or those who bought a package and wish to have a re-take. Students will need to bring their original package to school on make-up day if they want a re-shoot.
