New PTA Scholarship Opportunity

The JoAnn Taylor Scholarship Fund was created by the Tom Mathis Sr. Council, PTA to demonstrate the Council’s commitment to education and to provide a financial award for deserving high school seniors within the council’s boundaries. Emphasis will be placed on the citizenship and community/ school service records of the scholarship recipients, since this embodies the philosophy of the PTA. There will be one scholarship awarded to each of our 2017–2018 participating high schools: Allatoona High School, Harrison High School, Kennesaw Mountain High School, and North Cobb High School. The amount of each scholarship will be $750.00.

The following criteria will be used in the selection process: 1. Student or student’s parent(s) must be a current 2017–2018 member of their High School PTA. 2. Extracurricular activities, community involvement, service-oriented projects, and citizenship. 3. Honors and Awards from school and community.

All funds received from this scholarship must be used for continuing education. There is no limit to the number of students from each school that may apply. Applications must be received no later than Thursday, March 1, 2018 by 5pm.  Winners will be honored on March 20, 2018 during the Tom Mathis Sr. Council, PTA General Session at Acworth City Hall.  Submit any questions to:

What a Teach – Teacher Talent Show

The KMHS Habitat for Humanity club is proud to announce its annual “What-A-Teach” fundraiser.  The teacher talent show, with AMAZING ACTS, will be held on Tuesday evening, February 6th, starting at 6pm in the KMHS theater.  The idea is to raise money for Habitat’s upcoming house build, where club members will help build a home in the community for a family in need. Tickets are $5, and any and all donations are welcome! A “Crowd Favorite” act will also be decided as the evening’s overall winner, determined by how many donations each act receives.  Please mark your calendars now and plan to come out and support this worthwhile and fun cause!

The KMHS PTSA would like to thank those parents who attended Open House.

We would like to thank local businesses who participated in the summer job fair for students and our business partners and supporters who contribute to our efforts to better the schools.

We would like to thank everyone in the KMHS community for their continued generosity, whether they gave to the Thanksgiving undergarment drive, the current gift card drive, the Shop with a Mustang student program, the recent Teacher Appreciation Breakfast or any of the various great causes that take place at the mountain each and every day.  We have an awesome school community and we SALUTE YOU!
