The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Over 1.6 million students entered the competition last October by completing the PSAT during their junior year of high school. Of those, less than 1% are selected as semi-finalists; these students are the highest scoring students in each state. Congratulations to the following KMHS National Merit Semi-finalists: Madelyn Focaracci, Auburn Ford, and Connor Truono. The KMHS Community is proud of you!
The nomination process for the Governor’s Honors Program is currently underway. The Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer instructional program designed to provide high-achieving and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities not usually available during the regular school year. Rising juniors and seniors in Georgia may be nominated by their teachers. If the idea of spending four weeks this summer on a college campus, studying in-depth an academic field of interest with outstanding high school and college instructors appeals to you, speak to one of your academic teachers as soon as possible or swing by Room 327 to see Ms. Dye for more information. The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement provides additional information at the GHP website: https://gosa.georgia.gov/governors-honors-program. An information meeting regarding how to apply has already been held so visit Ms. Dye ASAP.
